The show ‘Kaguya-sama: Love Is War’ is of the genre ‘romantic comedy’ and has been inspired by a Manga. The original Manga was written by Aka Akasaka and was published by Shueisha. Its imprint was provided by Young Jump Comics and it was launched on May 19, 2015. The manga had 21 volumes. The second part of the Manga was written by Shinta Sakayama and published by Shueisha. Its imprint was provided by Young Jump Comics and it was launched on June 14, 2018. It had 3 volumes. The third part of the Manga was written by G3 Ida and it was published by Shueisha. Its imprint was provided by Young Jump Comics and it was launched on July 26, 2018.

The Anime series based on the Manga was helmed by Shinichi Omata and produced by Tatsuya Ishikawa, Naoto Nakajima, Taku Funakoshi, and Toshihiro Maeda. It was written by Yasuhiro Nakanishi and Yukie Sugawara, and the background score was given by Kei Haneoka. The studio involved in its production was A-1 Pictures and it was licensed by Aniplex of America and Muse Communication. It aired on channels 

Tokyo MX, GTV, GYT, BS11, MBS, CTV, and TVN. It aired from January 12, 2019, to March 30, 2019. It has 12 episodes.

The second season of the series was directed by Shinichi Omata and was written by Yasuhiro Nakanishi and Yukie Sugawara. The music was composed by Kei Haneoka and aired from April 11, 2020, to June 27, 2020.

Plot

Miyuki Shirogane, the president of the student council at the high school division of Shuchiin Academy, and Kaguya Shinomiya, the vice president of the student council are a lovely couple, adored by everyone. Shuchiin is a scholar student at the school and Kaguya belongs to a wealthy family. The two are attracted to each other but hold a lot of pride and instead of confessing their love to the other, they want the other to confess their love for them. The ego ride does go on for a long time. 

Some time passes and the two finally accept the fact before each other that they are attracted to one another. Their relationship grows and evolves and the story starts focussing a bit on the other characters of the show.

The first season had twelve episodes and the first episode was named “I Want to Make You Invite Me to a Movie”, “Kaguya Wants You to Stop Her” and “Kaguya Wants You to Offer Her Food”. It aired on January 12, 2019. The second episode was named “Kaguya Wants to Exchange Contact Info”, “Fujiwara Wants to Go Out” and “Shirogane Miyuki Wants to Hide It”. It aired on January 19, 2019. The third episode was named “Shirogane Miyuki Still Hasn’t Done It”, “Kaguya Wants Him to Guess Right” and “Kaguya Wants to Walk”. It aired on January 26, 2019. 

The fourth episode was named “Kaguya Wants Affection”, “The Student Council Wants To Make Each Other Say It” and “Shirogane Miyuki Wants To Speak”. It aired on February 2, 2019. The fifth episode was named “Kaguya Wants to Handle It”, “Miyuki Shirogane Wants to Show Off” and “Kaguya Wants to Be Covered”. It aired on February 9, 2019. The sixth episode was named “Yu Ishigami Wants to Live”, “Chika Fujiwara Wants to Test You” and “Kaguya Wants to Be Noticed”. It aired on February 16, 2019. When does the third season release?

The first season was a major hit and fans loved it. The way it portrayed the chemistry between its characters was not just mind-blowing but completely refreshing. It and every angle of the story have been covered with utmost perfection and each character of the story makes sense and is relevant. The second season was also a major hit with fans drooling over the protagonist couple.

Their chemistry is so strong that even the viewers could feel it. It would be an understatement to call the series good. It is indeed better made than several other romantic comedies with actual people acting in them. The second season was as perfect as the first one and did complete justice to the hopes of the fans. Now, the fans are eagerly waiting for the release of the third season. There is an estimation that suggests that the third season of the series might release in 2021. We’re waiting for any leads from the makers of the show that confirm the news of its third season.
