The series Dr. Stone is based on a Manga by the same name. It belongs to the genre Adventure, Post-apocalyptic, and Science fiction. The Manga was written by Riichiro Inagaki and was illustrated by Boichi. It was published by Shueisha and the imprint was provided by Jump Comics. It was launched on March 6, 2017, and has 20 volumes in it. The TV series made in the Manga, with the same name has been helmed by Shinya Iino and written by Yuichiro Kido. 

The background score for the series has been provided by Tatsuya Kato, Hiroaki Tsutsumi, and Yuki Kanesaka. The studio involved in its production is TMS/8PAN and has had 24 episodes till now. The series premiered on July 5, 2019, and aired till December 13, 2019. Its second season premiered on January 14, 2021, and aired till March 25, 2021.

Plot

The story begins in April 5738 CE. A mysterious happening (that occurred 3,700 years ago) has erased the humans of the earth. Senku Ishigami is a 15-year-old scholar who finds himself on earth with absolutely no traces of the human race. He starts finding out about the event that caused the erosion of the human race and how he can reverse it if he can. Six months have passed and finally, there is good news.

Taiju Oki, the best friend of Senku Ishigami, is brought to life by Nitric acid. They start to make a compound with nitric acid that can revive other people too. They revived Tsukasa Shishiō, who was a famous boxer, and Yuzuriha Ogawa, who was their classmate. When Tsukasa comes to know about Senku’s plan of reviving the old world, he revolts against it. He believes that the old world was weak and they should instead create a new world that is more powerful. 

Characters

The character of Senku Ishigami has been voiced by Yūsuke Kobayashi, Mikako Komatsu, Aaron Dismuke, and Mikaela Krantz. Senku is a scholar of astronomy and space sciences and wishes to revive the human race back on earth. He opens his eyes in the stone age and starts to develop the old technologies from scratch.

The character of Taiju Oki has been voiced by Makoto Furukawa, Ricco Fajardo, and Emily Fajardo. He is very strong in terms of strength and stamina and is the best friend of Senku Ishigami. The character of Yuzuriha Ogawa has been voiced by Kana Ichinose and Brittany Lauda. The character of Tsukasa Shishio has been voiced by Yuichi Nakamura and Ian Sinclair. The character of Gen Asagiri has been voiced by Kengo Kawanishi and Brandon McInnis. 

The character of Chrome has been voiced by Gen Satō and Matt Shipman. The character of Kohaku has been voiced by Manami Numakura and Felecia Angelle. When will the third season be released?

The makers of the show have made an official announcement that the show will have a third season. However, the date of release hasn’t been announced yet. Well, if we look at the pattern in the release dates of the previous seasons, we can estimate a date. Season 1 of the show was expected to release in November 2018, but it was released in July 2019. Season 2 was released in 2021. Similarly, as per an estimation, the third season of the series might release in April 2022.
