Diabolik Lovers is a visual novel adapted into an anime series created by Rejet in Japan. On October 11, 2012, PlayStation Portable got its first entry. The franchise produced seven games in total.
They remastered the first two games called “Limited V Editions” for the PlayStation Vita. In March 2019, the seventh game came out and became available on Nintendo Switch. On September 16, 2013, the first episode of its anime adaptation aired.
It consists of two seasons with 12 episodes each made by ZEXCS Inc. The company created an OVA following the release of the first season. Since then, Diabolik Lovers had its manga, drama CDs, anime, fan books, and music CDs.
Rejet announced another project within the Diabolik Lovers universe on February 23, 2020. In addition, there were three plays performed in 2015, 2016, and 2018. Zackary Baker and Myah Eketone created their soundtrack.

Gameplay
The game starts by taking the role of Yui Komori. Each character’s role has three split sections: Dark, Maniac, and Ecstasy. Depending on your choice, each character’s ending has three possible scenarios.
The company created a version for PSP. They adapted to PS Vita and PS TV format on their succeeding games. As such, the company remastered its pioneer games.
Today, all Diabolik Lovers games are available on PS Vita. In 2017, they announced the release of its first three games for PlayStation 4. In March 2019, Nintendo Switch acquired a new release called “Diabolik Lovers: Chaos Lineage.”

Plot
The gameplay plot is divided into 2 series. The first part is about Yui Komori’s fate in landing in a mansion. She met six men whom she found out are brothers but with different mothers.
To her surprise, Yui discovered that these men are vampires. After a month of living in the mansion, strange things are happening. Yui started to dream about a mysterious “Eve.”
The story goes about getting Yui and the brothers into a car crash. The day after, four vampires kidnapped Yui from the mansion.
Characters
Yui Komori
The main heroine of Diabolik Lovers is Yui Komori. Yui is a 17-year old student who transferred into a mansion after his dad left to work overseas. She ended up living with six strange brothers whom she found out to be vampires.
Shu Sakamaki
Shu is the eldest son of the Sakamaki household. He’s the master of the mansion. He’s lazy and apathetic.
Reiji Sakamaki
Reiji is the second of the Sakamaki household. Aside from Shu, Reiji is composed and very formal. Despite being polite, he’s harsh with words.
Ayato Sakamaki
Ayato is the third son of the Sakamaki household and the lead male protagonist. He’s an arrogant, self-centered, and overconfident vampire. However, he learned how to care when he met Yui.
Kanato Sakamaki
Kanato is the fourth son of the Sakamaki household. Because of growing up without her mother’s love, Kanato developed a violent personality. However, things changed after meeting Yui.
Laito Sakamaki
Laito is the fifth son of the Sakamaki household. He doesn’t know the true meaning of love. He’s a skillful liar, intelligent, manipulative, and a quick thinker. But, his personality doesn’t match Yui’s defiance against him.
Subaru Samaki
Subaru is the sixth son of the Sakamaki household. He’s a loner with a violent and filthy personality. However, it changed after meeting Yui where he started to care for her.
Anime
During the Rejet Fes 2013 Viva La Revolution event, Rejet announced an anime adaptation of Diabolik Lovers. Soon after, Atsushi Matsumoto is said to direct the anime series with ZEXCS Inc. as the producer.
On September 16, 2013, the anime premiered on AT-X and Niconico until December 9, 2013. Crunchyroll availed its franchise in Canada and the United States. On December 2, 2014, Sentai Filmworks licensed the release of English dubbed and subbed versions.
On February 28, 2015, an OVA called “Diabolik Lovers: Dark Fate” came out. A second season for its anime adaptation aired in September that year. Hiroko Kusanagi wrote the storyline with Risako Yoshida as the director.
It aired from September 23 until December 3, 2015, with 12 episodes. In March 2017, Sentai Filmworks licensed the release of an English version of the anime adaptation.
Season 3
Yui’s fate is bound to the lives of vampires. After living with the Sakamaki brothers for a month, Yui began dreaming of a mysterious “Eve.”
And so, the second season is packed with action which started from a car crash. Yui and the Sakamaki brothers’ lives changed. They found a new set of enemies.
Furthermore, facing the founding vampires tested their strength. How will Yui respond to choosing her “Adam”? Will she accept the role of “Eve”?
Fans lie in wait for a continuation after the Diabolik Lovers’ second season. Will there be a third one? We can never tell.
Until today, there’s nothing said for season 3. However, it doesn’t close the fact of a possible new season. Since Diabolik Lovers is based on the game’s franchise, a third season is likely to happen.
Rejet kept silent for a new season. ZEXCS Inc. is yet to announce a new anime series. Will Yui’s life change after hearing the truth behind her existence?
Are there other mysteries behind the lives of the Sakamaki brothers? What future awaits them? All we can do is speculate.
But regardless, fans are eager to hear for the third season. The quest for the truth about Yui’s life is still unclear. Stories are left untold.
As such, it’s still in dispute whether a third season comes out or not. But one thing is for sure. Fans are excited for another season of Yui’s life with the Sakamaki brothers. All we have to do is sit back and wait for the final word.
