Altered Carbon Season 3: Release Date, Cast, New Season/Cancelled

There have been innumerable web series and sitcoms that have been released in the past decade. Some of them taste success, while some fall flat. Well, there are a few that leave a mark. Altered Carbon has been one such sitcom. The series Altered Carbon is an American-based Cyberpunk television sitcom. It was created by Laeta Kalogridis. 

The show is primarily based on the novel – “Altered Carbon” penned by an English Author named Richard K. Morgan, and that was released in 2002. The plot of the story is set in a universe where the consciousness of a person can be transferred to different bodies. It revolves around Takeshi Kovacs who is an investigator and an ex-soldier. He has spent a long time in prison but is released to help investigate a murder case.

The series Altered Carbon belongs to the genre Cyberpunk. It revolves around the life of an investigator-turned ex-soldier who is released from prison to work on a case. The story of the show is based on the novel Altered Carbon which was written by Richard K. Morgan. The show had two seasons which aired from February 2, 2018, to February 27, 2020.

Plot:

The plot of the story is set on a timeline of 360 years in the future. A great number of episodes from the first season of the series are set in a futuristic capital that goes by the name Bay city in the year 2384. In the future, as shown in the series, one’s overall consciousness can be transferred from one body to another via means including recording the consciousness into a disk-shaped device known as a cortical stack that is implanted in the vertebrae present at the back of a person’s neck. 

The Physically present human bodies or synthetic bodies are referred to as sleeves in the series. The story starts when a man named  Takeshi Kovac who in the past was a political figure with great combat and money-making skills that include compromising one’s ethics who was the sole survivor of the Envoys, a rebellious group that suffered defeat during the uprising of the new world order is brought back to life by a wealthy man so rich that he is one of the wealthiest personalities in the settled realms named Meth Laurens Bancroft to solve a murder mystery for him. After getting another shot at life, Takeshi follows Meth’s request and the series moves on with him.

Star cast:

The protagonist, Takeshi “Tak” Kovacs was played by Joel Kinnaman in seasons 1 and 2, Anthony Mackie in season 2, and also Ray Chase. Joel Kinnaman also essayed the role of Elias Ryker, who is a police officer. James Purefoy essayed the role of Laurens Bancroft in season 1. Martha Higareda featured in the role of Kristin Ortega in seasons 1 and 2. Chris Conner essayed the role of Edgar Poe in both seasons. Dichen Lachman and Elizabeth Maxwell are featured as Reileen Kawahara who is Kovacs’ sister.

Ato Essandoh played the role of Vernon Elliot in both seasons and Kristin Lehman featured in the role of Miriam Bancroft and Naomi Bancroft. Trieu Tran played the character of Mister Leung and Renée Elise Goldsberry essayed the role of Quellcrist “Quell” Falconer. Lela Loren appeared in the role of Danica Harlan, and Simone Missick was featured as Trepp. Dina Shihabi featured in the role of Dig 301, and Torben Liebrecht played the role of Jaeger / Ivan Carrera. 

Byron Mann, Tamara Taylor, Marlene Forte, Tahmoh Penikett, Matt Frewer as Carnage, Hiro Kanagawa, Hayley Law, Will Yun Lee, Adam Busch, Michael Shanks, Sen Mitsuji, Waleed Zuaiter, James Saito, and Neal McDonough also appeared in recurring roles.

Episodes:

The show has had two seasons by now and both the seasons had 18 episodes combined. The episodes of the first season were “Out of the Past”, “Fallen Angel”, “In a Lonely Place”, “Force of Evil”, “The Wrong Man”, “Man with My Face”, “Nora Inu”, “Clash by Night”, “Rage in Heaven”, and “The Killers”.

The episodes of the second season were “Phantom Lady”, “Payment Deferred”, “Nightmare Alley”, “Shadow of a Doubt”, “I Wake up Screaming”, “Bury Me Dead”, “Experiment Perilous”, and “Broken Angels”.

When will the third season be released?

Soon after the second season of Altered Carbon went off the air, fans of the show were eagerly waiting for the release of its third season. After a long wait, Netflix issued a statement declaring that it had canceled the third season of Altered Carbon. The reason being given behind Netflix’s decision is that there were already several shows put on a halt, which required to be revived. Therefore, Netflix chose to prioritize them over Altered Carbon. Hence, as of now, the show has been canceled
