Facts About June Wallace Thomson, Wife Of Harold Albertson

American activist and celebrity wife June Wallace Thomson was born on July 23, 1924 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. She was born to mother, Margaretta Maloney and father, Peter Smart Thomson and began her career as a model. June soon found her calling in writing and activism for many social groups and issues. She championed many causes and strived to be the change she wished to see in the world.

Education and Accomplishments

June Wallace graduated from University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor’s degree in English. She went on to do a Masters degree in journalism from Columbia University.

She also earned a MA in Speech and a PhD in Speech and Communications from UCLA.

As a producer, she earned an MFA from the American Film Institute.

She moved to Los Angeles from Pittsburgh and started Pan America House, an import house, with her mother Margo Thomson.

She had a small stint in modeling  and became Miss Subways in 1946 but soon quit the runway for a job at NBC, writing for television and radio. She was also crowned Miss NBC during this time.

June Thomson is also known for her work on It Takes Two, Tattletales, and It’s Your Bet.

She studied painting and also co-founded Women’s Strike For Peace in 1960, along with Sueo Serisawa. She was an active participant where Civil Rights were concerned and was also a strong supporter of the LGBT community. She began dialogues on interracial grounds at Operation Bootstrap.

Wallace became the first woman president of the California Democratic Council and served the office from 1975 to 1981.

June Wallace Thomson was on the Los Angeles Community College Board of Trustees from 1977 to 1989 and also served on the California State University Board of Trustees from 1978 to 1986.

She was also a Trustee of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Vincent Price Art Museum, and part of the Board of Directors of AIDS Healthcare Foundation.

Personal Life

Wallace married Jack Albertson, also known as Harold Albertson, on Halloween, 1952. He was a well-known American actor, dancer and singer and comedian and winner of Academy, Tony, Emmy and Oscar awards. Albertson acted in television series, movies, theater, broadway and more. He featured in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and The Fox and the Hound, and won many awards for his role in The Subject Was Roses. His accomplishments are innumerable. June lost Jack to colon cancer in November 1981.

They had a daughter named Maura Dhu Studi. Maura is an actress and writer, known for movies like The Lives of Angels (2007), She was previously married to R.B. Greaves but is currently married to Wed Studi since 1990 and has a son called Kholan.

June had a brother called William Thomson (Wynn)

June Wallace Thomson died on 9th January, 2015 in Los Angeles, California, USA.
