A Casual Look For Guys That Looks Great Anywhere!

Although much has been written about women’s fashions, their moods, looks, trends, and go-to outfits, it feels like men are too often ignored! Part of this may be because, on average, men’s personal appearances aren’t as closely linked to how they feel about themselves as women’s are, and possibly because some guys just can’t be bothered with caring about it. The thing is, appearances do matter, be you male or female, and in modern-day society people will build an opinion of you based on how you look, and that very much includes what you are wearing! So, for today we will dress our male of the species, your average guy, in a casual outfit that he can wear just about anywhere!

  • Shirt – There are several options here, but we are going to narrow it down to white polo shirts and call it good! Polo shirts are a step more formal than just a T-shirt, but a step less formal than a cotton button-down dress shirt. They are elegant in their simplicity but still have some style options, men can wear them with the collar flipped up for a more daring and individualistic statement, or down to appear more conservative and confident. Now, why white as opposed to any other colour? This is because white blends in anywhere, you can wear it on the golf course, on a boat, in an office lobby, or in a church and always look proper! White suggests purity and a noble purpose, all the good guys wear white!
  • Slacks – These should be casual and comfortable, with front and back pockets and an innocuous zipper as opposed to a cocky button fly. Good stretchability is essential for any kind of athletic pursuits, but avoid a baggy, unkempt look, you want to appear smooth and able to move! As for colours, there are basically two- dark and light. Some guys can get away with white, but it can be a bit too much of a good thing, and tan would probably suit most guys better. Black and grey are too formal looking for a casual day out, so go with navy blue or dark brown. The former suggests a jaunty, nautical air, while the other is for the avid outdoorsman who just happens to be enjoying a day in town!
  • Shoes – I know they are the go-to shoes for most guys, but we aren’t trying to be most guys here, we are shooting for a style level above the usual that will make you look extra sharp, so just say “No!” to sneakers! You can definitely say “Yes!” to boat shoes, penny loafers (don’t forget to insert a shiny penny or other copper coin in the slot!) or moccasins. The colour is less critical here, but white is a definite no-go unless you are golfing or getting married, and black is still way too formal. A rich cordovan, light or dark brown, or natural tan leather are all great choices, and will put you a step ahead of the rest!

We hope this helps you men who want to clean up nice for your next casual outing, and just remember-  the women will be watching you!
