Double helix piercings
Helix piercings have never gone out of style. They are a cartilage ear piercing, often placed on the top of the ear rather towards the edge. Be prepared for the double helix piercing, which is basically the same put 2 next to each other. The healing process might be tougher since they’re so close to each other so I would recommend getting them in 2 different sessions.
Celebrities like Miley Cyrus have been known for stacking their piercings. A double helix piercing is a great way to add to the ear party. Stacking piercings means wearing many, multiple earrings often in the same style. The ear will look fully dressed up and ready to party.
Daith piercings
Ear piercings tend to be more used since they are easily hidden and seen as more professional compared to other facial piercings, for example a nose piercing or eyebrow piercing. A daith piercing is pierced in the middle of the ear. There have been rumours going around that it would help against a migraine but do not be fooled, there is no scientific proof to defend this. It could be placebo effect for all we know. Kylie Jenner has been seen wearing a daith piercing during the beginning of her career. It is worn with a traditional hoop piercing which truly makes the look.
Septum Rings
A nose piercing has been going in and out of style but 2022 is all about focussing on yourself and being yourself. A septum piercing is definitely the way to go. As a facial piercing it is more visible but if placed correctly, you can flip it over to hide it. Many teens have been hiding their septum piercing, seen on TikTok, from their parents. We don’t recommend doing this but it is definitely one way to do it. Many people opt for a rather simple hoop but the traditional hoops that have a more decorated hoop are getting more and more asked for.
Nipple piercings
Believe it or not, nipple piercings will become the trend. Since the Free The Nipple acts have become worldwide known, more people like to go braless. Going braless has become more acceptable yet it still is quite a controversial topic between the different genders. Since becoming braless has been done more often, nipple piercings will become more visible. They are easily hidden as well, for example Bella Hadid has been seen wearing nipple piercing through a lacey shirt but when wearing a blazer, nobody would have known.
Tragus ear piercing
A tragus piercing is less known compared to the helix piercing but will become more popular after living in the shadows. It is a piercing rather closer to the face, not on the edge. It goes through a thicker piece of cartilage and makes mix matching piercings more creative. Danielle Bregoli, the catchmeoutside-girl, has worn a tragus piercing since the beginning of her career. It is a versatile and fun piercing to add to your collection of ear piercings.
Helix piercing chain
Since a helix piercing has been trending for the past years, there are different ways to implement the jewellery on your ear. Instead of getting an industrial piercings, which seems more massive, people opt for a more classis look by connecting 2 helix piercings with a chain. This way it seems more luxurious and classy.
Tips after getting one of these piercings
A freshly placed piercing can bring quite the hassle. Is it infected? Is it irritated? All of these questions have been answered somewhere on the internet, right? Not all of the sources will tell you exactly what to do, so here are some tips for taking care of your new piercing:
Do not clean your piercing with alcohol, this is a big misunderstanding. Your body will want to reject the piercing as it sees alcohol as a foreign substance that has been introduced to the ‘wound’. You may clean your piercing using a sterile, saline solution which will be much safer than alcohol. If you do not have this at home, you can use running water or salt water. Try to not touch your piercing during the whole healing process, especially not with dirty or unwashed hands. Introducing bacteria from your environment will cause infections. If you suspect you have caught an infection, do not take the piercing out until a doctor or licensed piercer tells you to. Worst case scenario would be that the infection has been closed into the piercing.
