Oje Edward Hart’s father was a Canadian professional wrestler who worked for several promotions like the Stampede Wrestling, New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), World Championship Wrestling (WCW), and the World Wrestling Federation (WWF). Own Hart featured in multiple pay-per-view events for the WWF, and was one of the company’s best in-ring performers. However, in one such event, during his entrance from the rafters of Kemper Arena in Kansas City, Missouri, United States, an equipment malfunction making him fall to his death. He died on 23 May, 1999 when young Oje was just seven years old.

Oje Hart’s mother, Martha Hart is known for being a philanthropist and researcher. She wrote a book about her husband’s life and also opened a charity in his name. She is a researcher at the University of Calgary/Alberta Children’s Hospital. She is currently working on Attachment and Child Health (ATTACH) Intervention. This study is aimed at understanding the links between parental reflective function (RF) and parent/child attachment and is led by Nicole Letourneau. Her book, Broken Harts: The Life and Death of Owen Hart has become a bestseller and is now published in several countries.
