Michael Richard Pence is the 48th VP of the United States and he has served from 2017 to 2021 as a part of the Republican Party. Before his seat as the VP, Mike has served Indiana as their Governor from 2013 to 2017, House of Representative member from 2001 to 2013, Indiana Representative for the 2nd district from 2001 to 2003, and the 6th district from 2003 to 2013.
He was born on June 7, 1959, in the town of Columbus, Indiana, United States. He was the sixth child of Edward Joseph Pence, Jr. and Ann Jane Cawley. His family managed several gas stations. His father has served in the military and has earned the Bronze Star during his service in the Korean War.
Mike is a descendant of German and Irish ancestry.
He was brought up in a family that followed Roman Catholic and Democrat practices. However, when he was in college, he converted to a born-again Christian.

Career
His passion for politics started when he was at a young age and during his teen-adult years. Initially, he had worked as a volunteer to the Bartholomew County Democratic Party. In the 1980 Presidential Election, he supported and voted for candidate Jimmy Carter.
His inspiration to pursue politics came from Martin Luther King, Jr., and John F. Kennedy.
In his early career, Mike immediately worked as a private attorney after graduating from law school, two years later, in 1988, he ran for congress against Philip Sharp who is a Democratic incumbent, where he lost. Both have run against each other again in 1990, but Mike was again unsuccessful.
His notable work in politics is becoming a member of the House of Representative from Indiana from 2001 to 2013, Chair of the House Republican Conference from 2009 to 2011, Indiana’s 50th Governor in 2013 to 2017, served in the White House Coronavirus Task Force as the 2nd Chairman, and the 48th Vice President of United States from 2017 to 2021.
