Summer 2024 Women’s Fashion Insights in Australia

The great Australian summer is still a few months away, as we move toward the middle of the year, we asked a few top fashion designers what they expect to see on the Sydney and Melbourne catwalks and here is our insight into the top trends in women’s wear for the coming summer.

Vivid colours

Last year’s fad for rich, bright colour has remained; expect to see pink and neon green socks, belts and hairbands on display. Stark contrasts are also in vogue, black/white, pink/blue, green/yellow and red/white.

Eye-catching prints

Rich fabrics with stunning prints are all the rage here in sunny Australia; acrylic, cotton and satin should be prominent, with floral and animal prints in abundance. Deep red matched with black accessories, wearing one of the chic womens gold watches available from an online retailer. Shopping online is so convenient; Google can help you locate top Australian designer boutiques and they often run specials, so you can pick up a bargain.

Jumpsuits

Since when have jumpsuits not been popular? Oversize is in vogue, combined with a baggy T-shirt and a sporty look with trainers. Stonewashed denim brings in the rugged used look with a few rips and tears, of course.

Off-the-shoulder evening gowns

Metallic fabrics go well with diamond jewellery and the online designer dress boutiques are the best places to find stylish evening gowns. You might prefer a mermaid-style gown in marine blue or a bright green; off-the-shoulder really shows off that deep tan, making you the envy of every girl at the party. Sterling silver is inexpensive and the online jeweller has a diverse selection of chunky jewellery, all at very affordable prices.

Hoodies

Hoodies arrived on the scene a couple of years ago and they are still in vogue; it goes with the current trend for sporty wear and hood up or down, a hoodie will keep you warm when the mercury drops and it can keep your hair in order during windy days.

Wool sweaters and cardigans

While you won’t be seeing sweaters and cardigans on hot summer days, they will be evident in early mornings and evenings. Oversize garments seem to be the thing this year, as all the catwalks will be showing woolly sweaters and cardigans with some amazing colours and designs.

Smart business attire

Stylish business suits have always been in fashion for today’s female entrepreneur and with made-to-measure solutions, you can look the part at the next meeting you call. Click here for information on Melbourne fashion week, which is always a highlight in the fashion world.
