Demon Lord, Retry!, is a 2019 Japanese fantasy light novel series. Light novel is a young adult novel for middle school and high school students.
The light novel series is written by Kurone Kanzaki. It is illustrated by Koji Ogata for the first edition and Makoto Iino for the second edition. Published by Futabasha, a Japanese publishing company. The original run was from July 2017 to the present and has 7 volumes. The first edition has 3 volumes and was published from June 30, 2017, to June 30, 2018. The second edition is a revised edition of the light novels and has 7 volumes.
The Japanese fantasy series has a novel series written by Kurone Kanzaki and published by Shosetsuka ni Naro. The novel series had the original run in 2016 up to the present.
It also has a manga adaptation which is still written by Korune Kanzaki. The manga is illustrated by Amaru Minotake. It is published by Futabasha. The series had the original run from October 2017 to the present. It has 5 volumes and was released from March 30, 2018, to December 28, 2019.
The story was then adapted for an anime back in July 2019. The adaptation was by Ekachi Epilka, a Japanese animation studio. The anime was aired from July 4 to September 19, 2019, and has 12 episodes. Though the series ended with only 12 episodes, it gave a message to fans that it is ‘to be continued.

Demon Lord Retry season 1 recap
The story of Demon Lord, Retry!, revolves around Akira Ono and his creation, MMORPG Infinity Game. After 15 years, the game is shutting down. Akira, the creator of the game, suddenly finds himself summoned as the Demon Lord of Grand Empire Hakuto Kunai, the main character of his game.
In the game, Akira or Demon Lord Hakuto Kunai encountered an injured girl character named Aku. Aku was fleeing from a demon king named Greol. She explained to Akira that they are in the Kingdom of Holy Light. The people worship the Holy Church and the Angel Cherub. Akira/Kunai realizes that these are not part of the original game and reasons that someone must have summoned a real demon lord but accidentally summoned him.
As Hakuto Kunai and Aku traveled together, Kunai encountered various companions as well as summoning some to accompany him in his travels. His reputation as the demon lord has made him a target among countries and saints. Kunai and his companions continued to pursue his mission of finding out why he was summoned, yet they caused trouble wherever they went.
Fast forward, the end of season 1 or episode 12, Kunai and his companions were greeted by a group of heroes which was led by a suspicious-looking overweight young man in modern clothing. Looking at the young man, Akira/Kunai is repulsed by the sight. Then the episode ended teasing the fans with the words ‘To be continued.

As for the season, you’d be expecting more from the story. As season one ended unfinished. Season 1 lacked such enemies and war which made fans expect more from season 2. Questions such as the advancement of their business and will they be able to reach out to the angels are something the fans want to be answered in the next season.

Akira Ono or Hakuto Kunai/Demon lord is the creator of the game entitled Infinity Game for 15 years. After 15 years, the game is shutting down. Outside the game, Akira Ono has an average appearance. As Hakuto Kunai, he takes on the appearance of the main character of the game with long black hair, black colored eyes, and mafia clothing. Akira Ono/Hakuto Kunai is voiced by Kenjiro Tsuda in Japanese and Josh Grelle in English.
Aku is the first friend character encountered by Kunai who accompanied him in his travels. Aku is an androgynous-looking 13 years old girl with short blonde hair and heterochromia eyes, one green and one is red. Her right leg got infected. After Kunai saved her, she became his partner.
